‘Star Trek’ Sequel Won’t Start Filming Until 2011

Despite Simon Pegg’s hope that the follow-up to ‘Star Trek’ will kick off production later this year, the upcoming project is not expected to start production as early as Spring or Summer 2012.
Not only fans who cannot wait to see another “Star Trek” film, but also the cast are eager to act in front of cameras for the untitled Star Trek sequel. However, the stars will have to wait for at least a year to work on the project as the shooting will likely be kicked off in 2011 instead of this year like it was recently reported.
According to TrekMovie, sources said the second “Star Trek” film is not expected to start filming until next year, in around late spring or early summer. While scripting for the movie is still underway, it is possible that pre-production will begin this year. (READ MORE…)

Chris Pine does Star Trek 2 & 3

According to Just Jared most of the original cast will be returning. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin have already signed up for at least two sequels in the new Star Trek series.
A Couple weeks ago Paramount officially released the tentative release date for June 29, 2012.
